The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international association of members consisting of a diverse group of representatives from environmental and social groups, indigenous people’s organization, forest and the timber trade industry, responsible corporations, community forestry groups and forest product certification organizations from around the world, established to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.
Although there are many certification initiatives on the market the FSC is the only scheme that fulfills all requirements for a credible forest certification scheme. Transparency is a key element of their system, a report on each forest or site assessment must be publicly available. Assessments by independent certifying bodies involve document and site inspections also annual monitoring after certification is required.
Raft is vetted regularly by the highest standard of independent auditors who by FSC standard must have at least 3 years relevant experience in forest management, postgraduate research and consultancy.
Raft hold an FSC Chain of Custody certification for their products making Raft the largest retailer of FSC Recycled 100% timber in the world.
