How to host the perfect weekend BBQ during lockdown
Knowing how to host the perfect weekend BBQ is the key to making lockdown a better place. Luckily, when it comes to choosing the guest-list, right now it’s pretty much a no-brainer… So, the other ingredients that will ensure a dreamy outdoor cook-up are all you need to think about. This weekend, the weather forecast predicts that the sun will be shining so we’ve got our sun hats and thinking caps on. Keep reading so that we can share our top BBQ tips with you.

1. Music

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” ― Plato

If we're honest with ourselves, before all else... music is the secret ingredient that can transform any old night into a shindig to remember. Whether you're a die-hard Earth, Wind and Fire fan, like to keep it old school and kick back to Louis Armstrong's dulcet tones or you're a Beatles aficionado... create a BBQ playlist that will make a drink in the garden feel like a night out! Top tip: Quarantine means you're locked in with your nearest and dearest who can't judge you for your music taste... the perfect opportunity to whack out those guilty pleasures and let your hair down (cue Justin Bieber and Little Mix).

2. Garden furniture

When it comes to hosting outdoor gatherings such as BBQ's and summertime drinks, it's essential that your outdoor set-up replicates the comfort and style that you uphold indoors. Furnishing your garden can often be an afterthought but when BBQ season comes around, you'll be thanking yourselves for investing in some durable, stylish outdoor furniture! In the photo above you can see our Primrose Garden Sofa. Not only is the aesthetic of this piece easy on the eye, the solid wood bench is made from 100% sustainably sourced teak, meaning it's kind to the planet, too! What's more, this sofa comes with the shown above gorgeous seat and back cushions, upholstered in Sunbrella fabric, making it able to repel the rain!

3. Heaters and throws

As much as we wish we were lounging about in a tropical climate, for those of us who live in the UK, we need to put in the legwork to feel warm and cosy outside, beyond sunset. Throws galore is the answer to this question, as well as... How to refresh your home for the Spring with accessories? and How to achieve the perfect night in? ... yeah throws are always the answer.

4. Fairy lights and candles

If you want your family lockdown BBQ to become a magical night to remember, we highly recommend adorning your garden with twinkling fairy lights. From experience, we're big fans of standard, subtle fairy lights ( we've got loads of the KooPower Outdoor Fairy String Lights and love them), for their magical, whimsical feel. That way, when it gets to 9pm and you're outside with your family, snuggled up under a throw, laughing and chatting, sipping on wine with your playlist still playing, you won't even notice the sun has set. That's the sign of a great BBQ.
